I
have been doing camera and post-production work for
professional dancers. Here I experience the human body
at it's most
expressive, through the work of movement artists. Aside
from providing
some income, this work also adds to my gesture tape library,
an archive of video which is slowed down slightly for
gesturing from. Another objective is to identify possible
collaborations
like the work Marion Ramirez, Fabrice Covelli and I did
together for Openus.
I
am still intrigued by dance and dancers even after
the intense multimedia
dance performance I co-directed
in 1994. I like dance so much I get a little shy about
it. That's how you can tell when I really something
(or someone).
Those who
have
been
clubbing
with
me would probably not describe
me
as shy.
Fluent
in physical expression,
awareness and conditioning, dancers are
allies of the visual artist. It's a pleasure
for me to document them, to make an effective translation
of
what can
never
be captured.
I've
been posting a video catalog of
the amazing New York dancers and choreographers I've
been fortunate enough to work
with. May it expand exponentially! |
