digital sequence
Computer
or digital paintings do not have a unique original - like
a pigment covered canvas or a photographic negative. This
is because digital information can be duplicated perfectly,
and a single computer painting could potentially spawn an
infinite number of 'originals'.
My work is constantly being copied, transmitted, transformed, materialized
and annihilated. With all those countless manifestations winking on and
off all over the earth, only five are ever hand signed by me,
the artist.
These
five signed paintings form a sequence. The higher a painting's
position in the sequence, the more expensive it is. If all
the paintings in a sequence are available, then the entire
sequence can be purchased for significantly less than the
sum of the five paintings purchased individually. Acquiring
a full sequence is like acquiring an original work produced
with traditional media.
